Community College of Beaver County has invested in its technology infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning, to enable efficient business practices and improve communication with and within the College. All CCBC students, faculty, and staff have access to email as a communication tool and the MyCCBC portal for communication and information relative to their role(s) at the College. CCBC is committed to the use of these tools to enhance interpersonal communications, improve information exchange, and reduce the use of paper.
Electronic communication resources include, but are not limited to, the College’s public website, email, the MyCCBC portal, the College’s course management system Blackboard, and Outlook Public Folders. MyCCBC serves as the College’s intranet, an internal computer network or website used to share information, operational systems, or computing services within the organization. This term is used in contrast to extranet, a network between organizations such as the College website (ccbc.edu).
The following guidelines should be followed when posting/sharing information electronically across campus:
Public Web Site
The College’s public website (www.ccbc.edu) presents information relevant to the general public, prospective students, and other interested parties. The College’s marketing department is responsible for the public website. Information included on the College's website is intended for the external community. In general, the information should describe the College's academic programs, resources, staff, upcoming events, and services available to the public. Information on the College web site is accessible to anyone on the internet; therefore, private and confidential information should not be posted. The College’s Marketing and Public Relations office has direct supervision of the design, content, and navigation of the site. However, content managers for various sections are established in order to maintain current and relevant content on each page.
MyCCBC Portal Site
The MyCCBC portal gives students, faculty, staff, and other constituents personalized access to information and services. It is the main mode of digital communication and information delivery at the College.
Employee information: The MyCCBC portal Employee Tab includes documents used within the operations of the college, including, but not limited to human resources documents.
Student information: The MyCCBC portal Student Tab includes, but is not limited to, grade reports, unofficial transcripts, major explorations, degree audits, course needs, final grade reports, and the ability to register and pay for classes online
Faculty information: The MyCCBC portal Faculty Resources Tab includes, but is not limited to, grade entry and instructions, course control, IT login information, Classroom Guide and Multimedia Tutorial, forms, and student and faculty handbooks.
The portal content administrator will periodically review and monitor the content of announcements, channels, and Groups, and may remove information in violation of policy. Information pertaining only to an internal audience (e.g. students and employees) should be posted to the appropriate section of the MyCCBC portal. Permissions can be assigned by the IT Department to individuals or groups within each department in order to maintain, update, and/or post information to particular pages or sections on the Employee Tab within the portal.
Microsoft Outlook is the software product used for email and calendaring for the faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees of the College.
