With unemployment rising and layoffs continuing within our community, it is the desire of the Board of Trustees to create an incentive program encouraging displaced workers to enter the College for purposes of retraining and developing new job skills. To that end, the Board of Trustees is creating a Tuition Assistance Initiative available to residents of Beaver County.
The Board directs the President to develop procedures providing a waiver of tuition for individuals who can document they have been affected by a layoff or plant closing during a specific time period. The program is to provide for a waiver of tuition for one semester so that participants will have the opportunity to apply for financial aid. Students are to be responsible for payment of appropriate fees, books, materials, and supplies.
The effectiveness of this policy is to be reviewed annually with recommendations to the Board regarding its continuation.
