Effective July 1, 2008, regular, full-time administrative and confidential employees of the College will earn fifteen (15) days of sick leave annually. The sick leave is to be accrued at a rate based on the number of pay periods contained in the fiscal year of July 1 – June 30. Employees will be notified annually of the per pay period accrual rate. Sick leave shall continue to accrue for the duration of an individual’s employment with the College.
Upon separation from employment with the College, unused sick leave shall be prorated at twenty-five percent (25%) of the total days accrued to determine payout. The maximum payout shall not exceed thirty (30) days. Individuals employed with the College at the time of implementation of this policy who have accrued reimbursable sick leave beyond the thirty (30) day limit under previously existing policies shall be reimbursed on the basis of the number of days eligible for reimbursement as of June 30, 2008. This number will be calculated and affected employees will be informed, in writing, of the number of days they will be eligible to receive.
Additionally, existing employees who have accrued reimbursable sick leave totaling less than thirty days (30) but at a payout reimbursement rate of fifty percent (50%) under previous policies will retain eligibility for reimbursement at that level on the basis of hours accrued as of June 30, 2008, provided that future sick leave taken shall be charged against the oldest hours earned. These numbers will also be calculated and affected employees will be informed, in writing, of the days credited in this category.
The College President shall be responsible for development of procedures required for implementation of this policy.
