The Community College of Beaver County is committed to providing access to quality learning opportunities utilizing an open-door admissions process. While providing open access, the College also recognizes that certain academic standards must be maintained by students to successfully pursue their education and satisfy their academic goals. To establish the College’s requirements relating to the academic progress of its students, it is the desire of the Board of Trustees to create academic progress standards for CCBC students.
Therefore, the Board directs the President to develop procedures that establish academic progress standards for students. Procedures to be developed are to define minimum grade point averages required to demonstrate student academic ability for success in their field of study, a standardized grading system, a QPA calculation method, and graduation and completion requirements. The procedures should also include provisions for intervention strategies, academic support mechanisms, and academic guidance and advising.
