3.05.005 - Student Success Measures

Approved: 5/16/2011
Approved By: Board of Trustees
Category: 3 - ACADEMIC SERVICES
Section: 05 - STANDARDS OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS

The Board of Trustees desires to ensure the College adequately and accurately celebrates the success of its students.  To this end, the Board adopts the following definitions to be used in preparing external reports for the community and external agencies/organizations requesting such data.  Unless otherwise defined in the reporting requirements, student success will be reported in terms of the following:

Completer

A completer shall be defined as an individual who has completed the stated requirements for a degree, diploma or certificate, either credit or non-credit, as stated for the student’s program of study.  Where it is documented that a student has completed the stated requirements for completion of the program of study, such completion shall be noted to the student’s academic record; however, no diploma shall be issued.

Graduate

A graduate shall be defined as an individual who has completed the stated requirements for a degree, diploma or certificate, either credit or non-credit, as stated for the student’s  program of study and who has completed the process of applying for graduation from the College.  Where it is documented that a student has completed the stated requirements for completion of the program of study and has completed the graduation application process, such completion shall be noted on the student’s academic record and a College diploma shall be issued.

The Board directs the President to develop procedures and processes to ensure these definitions are implemented and used to measure the success of our students.  Appropriate data collection and maintenance measures are also to be defined, and reporting to the Board is expected at least annually.
