The Early Childhood Education program is designed to prepare you to work with young children in group settings such as childcare centers, nursery schools, and Head Start programs.

You will learn through classroom discussion and instructions as well as through supervised participation in the campus Childcare Center and other preschool environments in Beaver County.

With the educational background and skills acquired, graduation will qualify you for an assistant teaching position. With experience, you can be considered for a supervisory position such as head teacher, group supervisor, or director.

After graduation, you may even consider opening your own daycare center or family daycare facility.

Prior to entering the internship, students must have the following:
* Act 33/34 clearance (current within the past 6 months)
* Current certification in first aid and infant and child CPR
* A physical examination with findings indicating that the applicant can undertake the Early Childhood Education program
* A negative Mantoux test or negative chest x-ray
* Two letters of reference from non-family members
* An application for internship submitted to the Early Childhood Education faculty, the program facilitator, or the division director.
