Since 1974, the Community College of Beaver County has offered EMT, Paramedic and Medical First Responder training. Accredited by the PA Department of Health, we can offer you:

Emergency Medical Technician

Our Emergency Medical Technician course provides entry-level certification for those interested in obtaining employment in Emergency Medical Services. The 139-hour EMT-Basic program follows the National Standard curriculum.

Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)

EMT-B is considered the entry-level certification for employment in emergency medical services (EMS) and related occupations.  The program follows the US Department of Transportation EMT-Basic Curriculum with enrichment modules.

Successful completion will result in Pennsylvania Department of Health Certification and is the basis for reciprocity and eligibility for National Registry EMT-B testing.

This 140-hour program concentrates on Basic Life Support interventions, including:

  • Introduction to EMS / Medical-Legal / EMT Responsibilities
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers
  • Scene Safety, Hazard Recognition and Mitigation
  • Patient Assessment and Immediate Interventions
  • Trauma / Burn Care
  • Medical & Environmental Emergencies
  • Skills for the Senior Patient, Children and Infants
  • Ambulance Operations & Special Incident Response

Most classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm, beginning September 7, 2010 with state testing in January 2011.

The program will be held at the CCBC EMS Training Center, located on the Center Township Campus, Beaver County, PA (Directions available with registration)

Emergency Medical Responder

The Emergency Medical Responder course grants PA Department of Health certification for first responders who will provide basic care until EMS arrival.

Topics include:

  • EMS System
  • Scene Safety and Hazard Control
  • Patient Assessment
  • BCLS-HCP
  • Basic Trauma Care
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Emergency Obstetrics
  • Special Operations
NREMT-Paramedic

Our NREMT-Paramedic course is an advanced care program offered at CCBC through a cooperative agreement with the Community College of Allegheny County. It is open to all EMT-B responders, and includes didactic, clinical and field learning opportunities, and is taught by experienced local educators. Successful completion will result in both PA Department of Health and National Registry certifications.
