Road Trip with David Weil

Auditor/United States Agency for International Development Office of the Inspector General

Starting Point: CCBC

Destination: Washington, D.C.

After graduating from CCBC, David transferred to Geneva College where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. While still in school, he took the initiative to attend a Federal Career Day where he had the opportunity to speak with many representatives from the United States Government.

“I interviewed and accepted a position with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of the Inspector General as an auditor,” explained Dave. “I am currently working in Washington, D.C. in the Ronald Reagan Building which is two blocks from the White House.”

The USAID has offices in over 88 countries around the world, so, although David is based and work out of Washington, he has been able to travel to many different places. In 2009, he spent three weeks in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, and this past year spent time helping out in Cairo, Egypt after the revolution. While traveling, he has also visited various locations in Europe including Zurich, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt.

His job also requires him to help write reports that are presented before Congress and he has attended many meetings on Capitol Hill and in the White House Conference Center.

“I must admit that this was not what I envisioned when I started CCBC,” said Dave. “But, as the saying goes, once you step on the road, you never know where the future will lead you.”
