Workforce and Economic Development Network (WEDnetPA)

About WEDnetPA

To strengthen the business environment of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA) was developed.  WEDnetPA provides a training network responsive to employers' workforce development needs.

WEDnetPA manages the Department of Community and Economic Development's Guaranteed Free Training (GFT) program.  The GFT program offers two grant opportunities. These grants give qualified in-state businesses and out-of-state companies relocating to the economic-friendly business climate of Pennsylvania the opportunity to train new and existing employees.

The first grant, Basic Skills Training, provides instruction in a variety of basic and entry-level skills. Information Technology Training, the second grant, provides instruction in a variety of information technology and advanced applied manufacturing subjects.

The keystone of the GFT program is its ability to be responsive to the needs of Pennsylvania's business community through a flexible and easy-to-use system. An important element of this system is that businesses determine their own training needs and can select among various WEDnetPA approved training providers (the WEDnetPA partners, third-party providers or in-house staff) as well as delivery options (on-site, off-site or online).

Included in this partnership are Pennsylvania's State System universities, Pennsylvania's community colleges and other educational providers.

Each WEDnetPA partner serves as a point of contact for businesses interested in accessing GFT funds.  CCBC has been a Partner in WEDnetPA since the program began in 1999 providing training to employees in areas such as Maintenance, MS Office, Supervisory Skills, Teambuilding, CNC, Blueprint Reading, and more.

For more information of how your company may qualify for these grants, contact Merilee Madera at 724-480-3448 or merilee.madera@ccbc.edu
