CompTIA's A+ and Network+

 

CompTIA’s A+ Certification OCCP065-01

$1,995 + $200 Lab

This course is designed for the student who has minimal hardware experience and a strong desire to learn.  Students will learn the components of a personal computer, how to install an operating system, and peripheral devices.  Networks and security will be introduced along with some communication and professionalism discussions.  Students will cover skills such as installation, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and preventive maintenance.  This certification requires students to pass two supervised tests.  Lab fee includes book, a tool kit, and two exam vouchers.  Prereq: knowledge of Windows operating system, Internet usage, and file management.  70 Hours-10 Weeks (Saturdays).

CompTIA’s Network+ Certification 

$1,295 + $95 Lab

This hands-on course is designed for IT professionals seeking to learn more about information security and who are working towards earning their CompTIA Security+ Certification.  Topics include authentication, cryptography, vulnerabilities and attacks, infrastructure security, physical security, and others.  This certification requires students to pass a supervised test.  Prerequisites: Knowledge of Windows operating system, Internet usage, and file management.  Some prior knowledge of or certification in computer networking is preferred.  Lab fee includes book

GIS Mapping Certificate

GIS - Intro to ArcGIS & Mapping Techniques OCCP47301 $749 + $40 Lab

The U.S. Dept. of Labor estimates the geospatial industry will need 150,000 more GIS professionals by 2018.  Get prepared for this growing field by learning how to use ArcGIS for many fields, including oil and gas.  Using ESRI’s ArcGIS 10.1 software, you’ll learn/apply key concepts in: mapping/presenting GIS data; utilizing and processing attribute data, queries, spatial joins; and key features of map overlay and geoprocessing.  Basic knowledge of computers, word processing/text editing, and file management is recommended.

Topics include raster analysis, network analysis, geocoding, data management, coordinate systems, basic editing, editing and topology, geodatabases, and metatdata.  Prereq: GIS Intro class or a working knowledge of GIS.

GIS Fundamentals (Washington County) OCCP47302 $1500 + $80 Lab

Acquire the fundamentals that will enable you to develop the skills necessary to obtain entry level GIS Technician jobs in fields such as civil engineering, surveying, conservation, gas & oil, regional planning, public works, and defense.  This 42-hour program utilizes ESRI ARC 10.1 software.  Students will learn about data types, shapefiles, layers, raster, geodatabase connections, coordinate systems, presentations, and much more.

Fortune magazine and ABC News have targeted this industry as a thriving field with average wages of $34/hr.  Learn about this field via an online orientation program that will paint a clear picture of what to expect in the course.  Ask questions and participate in a live chat with our instructor.  Course comprised of 15 hours of lecture, 15 hours of practical training, an exam on the 6th week, and a 30-hour internship.  Theory classes meet at CCBC from 9-12 & travel to local health club from 1-4.
