CompTIA's A+

CompTIA’s A+ Certification OCCP06501 $1,999 + $200 Lab

This hands-on course is designed for the student who has minimal hardware experience and a strong desire to learn.  Students will learn the components of a personal computer, how to install an operating system, and peripheral devices.  Networks and security will be introduced along with such skills as installation, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and performing preventive maintenance.  This certification requires students to pass two supervised tests.  Lab fee includes book and a tool kit.  Prereq: must have basic knowledge of Windows operating system, Internet usage, and file management.  70 Hours-10 Weeks.  Sat., 2/21-5/2 (no class 4/4), 8 a.m.-4 p.m.  ASC (Chippewa), Room 121B.

GIS Mapping Certificate

GIS Fundamentals (SouthPointe) OCCP47301 $1390 + $70 Lab

Acquire the fundamentals that will enable you to develop the skills necessary to obtain entry level GIS Technician jobs in fields such as civil engineering, surveying, conservation, gas & oil, regional planning, public works, and defense.  This program utilizes ESRI ArcGIS software.  Students will learn about data types, shapefiles, layers, raster, geodatabase connections, coordinate systems, presentations, and much more.  Purchase Getting to Know ArcGIS for Desktop, Michael Law, Amy Collins (3rd Ed.) from CCBC bookstore for first class.  39 Hours-13 Weeks.  Thurs., 1/29-4/23, 6-9 p.m.

GIS - Intro to ArcGIS & Mapping Techniques OCCP47302 $749 + $35 Lab  

Government estimates indicate that the geospatial industry will need nearly 150,000 additional GIS professionals by 2018. 

Using the most common software, ESRI ArcGIS, learn and apply key concepts in: mapping/presenting GIS data; utilizing and processing attribute data, queries, spatial joins; and key features of map overlay and geoprocessing.  Basic knowledge of computers, word processing/text editing, and file management is highly recommended.  Textbook required - purchase book from CCBC bookstore for first class.  21 Hours-7 Weeks.  Tues., 2/3-3/17, 6-9 p.m.  ASC (Chippewa), Room 121B.   

GIS - Intermediate ArcGIS & Mapping Techniques OCCP57201 $839 + $40 Lab

The Intermediate class will cover more complex concepts using ESRI’s ArcGIS software.  Topics covered include raster analysis, network analysis, geocoding, data management, coordinate systems, basic editing, editing and topology, geodatabases, and metatdata.  Prereq: GIS Intro class or a working knowledge of GIS.  Textbook required - purchase book from CCBC bookstore for first class.  24 Hours-8 Weeks.  Tues., 3/24-5/12, 6-9 p.m.  ASC (Chippewa), Room 121B.

Electronic Health Record Management Program WRKD03701 $2,000 + $100 Lab

This career training program prepares students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice.  You’ll be trained  in the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems such as HL7, CDISC, and DICOM.  Students learn through classroom and computer training the necessary components consistent with maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record and database.  Textbooks included.  After successful completion, students will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) exam.  95 Hours-11 Weeks.  Mon. & Wed., 3/9-5/18, 6-9:30 p.m. + Sat., 3/21, 4/11, 4/25, & 5/9, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.  ASC (Chippewa), Room 143.
