CCBC STUDENTS RECEIVE SHAW FAMILY TRUST SCHOLARSHIP FOR SECOND YEAR

Community College of Beaver County students Abigail Couper of Beaver Falls and Frankie DeRose of Hopewell Township were the recipients of the Shaw Family Trust Scholarship for a second year.

Currently a business administration major, Abigail was on the President’s List for the fall 2012, serves as a Student Ambassador, and volunteers her time at a variety of College events, including the American Indian Gathering and the CCBC Job and Career Fair.

Frankie, also a business administration major, was on the President’s List for the fall 2012 and spring 2013 semesters.  Frankie currently works two part-time jobs to help fund his education and was also an assistant coach for the Hopewell Boys Tennis team in the spring of 2013. After graduation, Frankie plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

In 2012, Mr. Richard L. Shaw and family created the Shaw Family Trust at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to high school seniors who are entering their freshman year of college at Community College of Beaver County or Penn State Beaver. The scholarship is available to Beaver County high school seniors who have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA.
