AN EVENING OF THE ARTS CELEBRATES STUDENT CREATIVITY AT CCBC
From animation and photography to painting, sculpture and poetry, the annual “An Evening of the Arts” highlights the best artwork from Community College of Beaver County students.
This year’s show is on Thursday, April 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Community Education Center and features the creative works from students enrolled in the fine arts program as well as visual communications programs, including digital media design and web design. Student work in animation, digital art and photography, interactive and 3D web design, drawing, painting, sculpture, and video will be on display and many artworks will be available for sale. Poetry readings, music, and yoga sessions will occur throughout the evening. The event has been organized with the help of the Event Planning class and will be catered by student Mana Mehdi, who has provided a delicious food selection for the past three years and will graduate in May.
Additionally, the newly created Hayden Juried Purchase Prize in Painting will be awarded for the first time at this year’s An Evening of the Arts. Established through the CCBC Foundation, the Purchase Prize awards a $200 annual prize to one student for excellence in oil painting. The winner will be selected by a jury chosen by Brian Hayden, creator of the purchase prize award and Director of Institutional Research, and Marie Leone, Associate Professor of Fine Arts. Students may submit artwork in any genre they choose, however this year’s requested category for submission is “landscapes.” The selected student painting will become part of the College’s permanent collection and be on display on campus.
The event and art sale are open to the public.
