Community College of Beaver County Welcomes New Career Coach

Community College of Beaver County welcomes Hugh Cannon Gallagher to the position of Career Coach. As Career Coach, Gallagher works closely with Trade Adjustment Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant-eligible students with skill assessment and coaching as well as career planning.

Gallagher sees his position at CCBC as an opportunity to further develop workforce areas in Western Pennsylvania and prepare students for careers in high-demand fields.

“With the emerging industries in Beaver County and Western Pennsylvania, a lot of opportunity exists to create programs and retrain and reeducate the local workforce for positions in the gas, oil and manufacturing fields,” says Gallagher.

The goal of the TAACCCT Grant program is to “increase attainment of degrees, certificates, and other industry-recognized credentials and better prepare the targeted population, and other beneficiaries for high-wage, high-skill employment.”

Gallagher holds a Master of Education in School Counseling from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Marriage and Family Studies from Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA.  He has previous experience as a school counselor in the Sahuarita Unified School District in Arizona where he worked with youth to develop testing skills, increased guidance and career teachings, instructed employability skills classes, and administered and interpreted career assessments. He currently resides in McCandless Township with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Susannah.

Gallagher looks forward to seeing a program through from start to finish and is passionate about helping local workers receive the training and career coaching they need to find employment.
